If you work for a company with many pleope, do a contest with maybe your employer giving a reward (dinner for 2?). Have each employee see if they can raise money for donations by talking to other companies in your area.You could do this on your own, just call the companies and tell them what the charity is for, make sure you have contacted the charity and get a letter of recommendation from them to show the companies to prove you aren't just collecting money, ask them to write checks out to the children's home, and make very sure to give receipts and keep a list of donors/$ $ given.You could get the kids at the children's home to make Christmas cards, copy and sell them to other companies or send them as thank you gifts after donations are made.
